Job summary

Providence Swedish is seeking a Medical Assistant II (MA II) to ensure compliance with licensing, accreditation, and regulatory standards in Mohs histology. The role includes QC, maintenance of cryostat equipment, and QA documentation while supporting tissue processing, slide handling, and physician communication.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school that includes hands on training in a clinical setting for medical assistants or,
• Graduate of a registered medical assistant apprenticeship program or,
• Completed two years of medical training in the United States Armed Forces or,
• Minimum one year of work experience as a medical assistant that includes the following clinical skills: obtaining vital signs, administering injections, and medication administration
• Upon hire: Washington Medical Assistant Certification
• National Provider BLS - American Heart Association within 30 days of hire
• 6 months Healthcare experience.
• 6 months Medical Assistant experience
• Histotechnician (HT) or Histotechnologist (HTL) certification from the American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification (ASCP BOC) within 1 year of hire.

Responsibilities

• Prepare solutions, stains, and tissue specimens; perform frozen sectioning; maintain slide quality control; and manage the labeling, storage, tracking, distribution, and retrieval of Mohs histology slides.
• Completes data entry, surgery notes, and physician correspondence using Logician and photography software.
• Maintains departmental logs, records, and inventory; monitors and orders supplies; verifies shipments; and ensures organized storage of equipment and materials.
• Assists with sterile tray setup, autoclaving, wound checks, post-operative follow-up, surgical photography documentation, and procedural support for the Mohs surgeon.
• Provides patient support consistent with the patient experience model, responds to emergencies as directed, and assists with training and education activities as requested by the Mohs surgeon.
