Job summary

Providence Swedish is seeking a MA II to ensure compliance with licensing and regulatory standards in Mohs histology. The role performs QC, maintains equipment like the cryostat, and supports QA activities through documentation and protocol development.

The candidate will prepare tissues, perform frozen sections, manage slide workflows, and assist with surgical photography and education activities as requested by the Mohs surgeon.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school with hands-on medical assistant training.
• Completion of an MA apprenticeship or equivalent training.
• Two years of medical training in the U.S. Armed Forces or equivalent.
• At least 1 year as a medical assistant with vital signs, injections and medication administration.
• Washington MA certification on hire; BLS within 30 days of hire.
• 6 months healthcare and 6 months MA experience.
• Associate’s degree in Laboratory Science/Histotechnology or equivalent.
• ASCP BOC HT/HTL certification within 1 year of hire.

Responsibilities

• Prepare solutions, stains, and tissue specimens; perform frozen sectioning.
• Maintain slide quality control; manage labeling, storage, and retrieval of slides.
• Data entry, surgery notes, and physician correspondence using Logician and photo software.
• Maintain logs, records, inventory, and monitor supplies and shipments.
• Assist with sterile tray setup, autoclaving, wound checks, and post-op follow-up.
• Provide patient support aligned with the patient experience model and respond to emergencies.
