Job summary

Galen Medical Group in Chattanooga, TN is seeking a Clerical Support/Receptionist for the Dermatology East site. You will handle front-desk duties, appointment scheduling, patient check-in/out, and switchboard tasks with emphasis on accurate data entry and HIPAA compliance.

Responsibilities include collecting co-pays, verifying insurance, and maintaining a tidy waiting area while providing courteous service to patients of all ages.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Must be computer literate.
• Able to perform mathematical calculations.
• Above-average spelling skills.
• Preferred: 2–3 years' medical receptionist experience.
• Medical experience and terminology helpful but not required.
• HIPAA/OSHA compliance knowledge encouraged.

Responsibilities

• Greet visitors in person or by telephone in a prompt, professional manner.
• Check-In and Check-Out duties; Switchboard/Reception duties.
• Enter demographic and insurance information into the PMS; scan insurance cards.
• Verify coverage and patient eligibility; collect Co-pays and past due balances.
• Handle daily reconciliation of cash, checks, and credit card payments.
• Schedule future appointments and manage recall lists; coordinate specialty testing as needed.
• Maintain confidentiality per HIPAA and organizational policies.
