Job summary

Pacific Dermatology Institute is seeking a Back Office Medical Assistant in La Quinta, CA to support dermatology providers in a fast-paced clinic. You will assist with back-office operations, room setup, specimen handling, and EMR documentation, while maintaining patient privacy and accurate records.

The role requires MA certification, 2+ years in a medical clinic (derm preferred), and BLS/First Aid. Travel up to 50% to multiple clinics may be required; benefits include health coverage, PTO and

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant Certification Program; national certification preferred.
• Medical Assistant with 2 years’ experience in a medical clinic; dermatology experience preferred.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) and First Aid certifications preferred; CDT training within 90 days.
• Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Assists the Office Manager with execution of back-office operations.
• Reports potential employer liability issues and patient complaints to Office Manager.
• Prepares rooms and instruments; prepares trays for procedures (biopsies, excisions, cryotherapy, I&D).
• Verifies patient information; rooms patients; obtains consents and photos.
• Aids providers during procedures; prepares patients for tests.
• Obtains signed consent; assists with office-based procedures including biopsies.
• Maintains logs and scribes patient information in EMR; documents history and Rx.
• Administers injections, removes sutures, bandages wounds.
• Maintains biopsy logs and follow-up.
• Cleans and sterilizes equipment; maintains sterilization logs and machines.
• Inventories and orders medical supplies.
• Verifies orders; uses Microsoft Office Suite.
• Maintains safe environment complying with CLIA and OSHA; Lean 5S.
