Job summary

Jobtailor in Illinois seeks a seasoned attorney to provide strategic legal and regulatory guidance on derivatives and trading matters. You will collaborate with trading, risk, compliance, and operations teams to support business objectives and mitigate legal risk.

You will draft and negotiate ISDA Master Agreements and related documents, advise on evolving regulatory requirements, and coordinate with outside counsel as needed. Strong negotiation and analytical skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Less than 7 years of legal practice or equivalent edu/experience.
• Licensed to practice law in the relevant jurisdiction.
• Experience drafting and negotiating derivatives documentation including ISDA/CSA.
• Knowledge of the regulatory environment in which BMO Financial Group operates.
• Strong negotiation and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic legal and regulatory advice on derivatives and trading matters.
• Draft and negotiate ISDA Master Agreements, CSAs, and related trading documents.
• Partner with trading, risk, compliance, and operations teams to manage risk.
• Identify emerging issues and inform decision-making.
• Instruct external counsel and coordinate regulatory submissions.
