Job summary

Xcel Energy is seeking a senior Distribution Engineer to lead DER integration across service territories, ensuring safe, reliable operation of the distribution system. The role interfaces with regulators, stakeholders, and internal teams to align DER policies with strategic goals.

Ideal candidates have a PE or equivalent experience, strong leadership, and a track record of managing budgets and cross-functional projects within a regulated utility context.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering (electrical engineering preferred) or related work experience.
• Seven years of distribution engineering and/or equivalent experience which includes a minimum of three years of supervisory/management experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership for DER integration across all service territories ensuring the safe and reliable operation of the distribution system.
• Advocate for effective DER integration policies, working with public utility commissions and key stakeholders to align rules and processes.
• Ensure maximum utilization of human resources by promoting teamwork, safety, and customer orientation and development of individual potential.
• Coordinate activities of the Unit with internal and external organizations to support objectives and meet customer needs.
• Accountable for achievement of goals relative to project completion, budgets, safety, facility performance, regulatory compliance and customer satisfaction.
• Stays abreast of new technologies and current industry practices; represents the Company in regional/national organizations.
