Job summary

EPRI Knoxville, TN, is seeking an DER Integration Engineer - Staff IV to lead EMT modeling for grid-following and grid-forming inverters. The role combines lab and field testing, data analysis, and reporting to members and industry peers.

The successful candidate will evaluate DER interconnection challenges, develop research proposals, and communicate findings. Remote work within the US/Canada is possible for the right candidate.

Qualifications

• The candidate will develop grid-following and grid-forming inverter EMT models and perform transient analysis.
• Laboratory and field testing of DER technologies with data analysis and reporting.
• Ability to evaluate emerging technologies and communicate results to stakeholders.
• Experience applying AI/ML techniques to power system applications.

Responsibilities

• Develop EMT models for GFL and GFM inverters and perform transient studies.
• Conduct lab and field tests, analyze data, and improve models.
• Assess new DER technologies through analytical and field studies.
• Author technical reports and present findings to internal/ external stakeholders.
• Contribute to AI-enabled tooling and analytics development.
