Job summary

Georgia Power is seeking an Engineer to support installation, commissioning, testing, and lifecycle support of DER field gateway solutions across Georgia. This field-focused role interfaces with DER operations, cybersecurity, vendors, and field teams to ensure safe, reliable gateway deployments and ongoing maintenance.

Responsibilities include hands-on installation, configuration, testing, troubleshooting, documentation, and integration with DERMS and OT platforms, with up to 50% travel

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited degree preferred.
• Professional Engineer license is a plus.
• Minimum of 5 years electric utility engineering or related field experience.
• Willingness to travel across Georgia to DER sites.
• Experience with field deployment of DER gateways.
• Experience with control, automation, and communications equipment.

Responsibilities

• Support deployment of DER field gateway solutions per standards.
• Perform end-to-end field deployment: site readiness, installation checks, commissioning, testing.
• Support DERMS/OT platform integration with data validation and testing.
• Maintain field deployment records and as-built documentation.
• Coordinate with contractors, vendors, field teams, and customers.
• Apply knowledge of networking, firewalls, VLANs, NATs, and secure architecture.
• Provide input to improve gateway designs and procedures.
