Denver Sheriff Department in Colorado is seeking a Deputy Sheriff to staff detention facilities, courts, and transportation operations. This fast-paced role requires professionalism, integrity, and strong judgment.

You will work varied shifts, supervise diverse staff, conduct searches, manage custody, and respond to incidents. Applicants must meet education, age, license, and fitness requirements and complete a 16–18 week Recruit Training Academy.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 21+ years old by academy start; valid Driver’s License; meet certified fitness standards.
• Lateral deputy sheriff requires current/recent peace officer status or 3+ years of experience.

Responsibilities

• Work varied shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Lead and interact with individuals from diverse backgrounds in tense situations.
• Maintain custody, safety, and care of persons in custody across multiple environments.
• Conduct searches for contraband and inspect for safety hazards; monitor inmate behavior.
• Transport persons in custody between facilities and courts; manage intake and booking processes.
• Document and prepare bonds, census reports, and other required documentation.
