The purpose of this position is to protect county citizens and property, prevent crime, apprehend criminals, provide law enforcement service, and enforce state and federal laws and county ordinances. The work is performed during an assigned shift and under the supervision of the Patrol Sergeant and/or Patrol Lieutenant.
The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
While the following tasks are necessary for the work of the unit, they are not an essential part of the purpose of this position and may also be performed by other unit members.
Associate degree in Criminal Justice, Police Science or sixty (60) fully accredited college credits. Must have completed the Wisconsin Basic Law Enforcement 520/720-hour Recruit Academy and be certifiable by the date of hire. Must be 18 years of age, or older, United States citizen; ability to possess a firearm; no felony or domestic abuse convictions, good physical condition, must take and pass a psychological and medical examination; pass background investigation and pre-employment drug screen. Possession of valid Wisconsin driver's license with a good driving record. Ability to work evenings, weekends and holidays.
