Deputy Registrar I – Part-Time
Starting Salary: $15-$17/hour
Position Summary:
The Office of Voter Registration in the City of Fredericksburg is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Deputy Registrar I to join our team. This position is essential in ensuring the smooth operation of elections and accurate voter registration in compliance with all federal, state, and local laws.
Key Responsibilities:
- Communicate with and coordinate the delivery, setup, and pickup of election equipment to polling places during election season.
- Pack and prepare election equipment prior to deployment.
- Serve as a liaison between polling places and the office on Election Day.
- Notify the General Registrar and Electoral Board of any issues that arise during elections.
- Provide backup support to the Deputy of Administration and Community Outreach Coordinator during non-election periods.
- Maintain flexibility to work additional hours during the election season, including mandatory overtime on Election Day (approximately 16-18 hour workday).
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Clerical experience preferred, with proficiency in MS Office and Windows.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines.
- Strong communication skills across multiple platforms to engage with the public.
- Self-directed and able to successfully complete repetitive tasks.
- General knowledge of federal, state, and city election laws (training will be provided).
- Familiarity with the City of Fredericksburg and its government structure is a plus.
