Deputy Project Leader

The Deputy Project Leader assists in the management of all operations, implementation and execution of large electrical construction projects with an estimated value of $100+ million.

Responsibilities
  • Run day-to-day operations of a project or sub-section of a project.
  • Identify change orders and ensure effective resolution.
  • Price, track and manage change orders.
  • Plan and monitor cash flow against cash expenses.
  • Maintain as-builts as work is completed and document project issues/conditions.
  • Plan and execute project completion and punch list.
  • Develop specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish your work.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and project specifications.
  • Research and compile submittals; price change orders and prepare estimates for partially designed projects by finishing the design and preparing a complete project estimate.
  • Confer with supervisory personnel, owners, contractors, and design professionals to discuss and resolve matters such as work procedures, complaints, and construction problems.
  • Communicate with people outside the Company, representing the Company to customers, the public, the government, and general contractor representatives.
  • Clearly understand the timeliness required for decision making, submission of RFIs, and documentation of all verbal conversations or agreements.
Qualifications
Education
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Preferred EE or industry‑related degree) with 5+ years of experience.
Experience
  • Related construction experience with five years’ working for an electrical or construction contractor.
  • Experience working on construction projects ranging from $500,000 to $10M.
  • Experience working with contract drawings, subcontracts, contract addendums, specifications, change orders, RFIs, and submittals.
  • Experience with CPM scheduling.
  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principals involved in the production of precision technical plans, blueprints, and drawings on projects.
  • Must have strong interpersonal and writing skills and be a problem owner/solver.
  • Proven ability to effectively plan and organize one’s own activities or the activities of others.
  • Proficiency with computers including MS Office, Blue Beam, and PDF.
Preferred Skill set
  • Accubid estimating (or equivalent) directly related to electrical installations.
  • Primavera P6 CPM scheduling experience and proficiency (or equivalent).
  • Ability and willingness to travel to project locations as needed.
Abilities
  • Exposure to computer screens for an extended period of time.
  • Sitting for extended periods of time.
  • Reach by extending hands or arms in any direction.
  • Have finger dexterity in order to manipulate objects with fingers rather than whole hands or arms, for example, using a keyboard.
  • Listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.
  • Communicate information and ideas in speaking so others will understand.
