Job summary

Carinity Education Gladstone invites a passionate leader to join our Special Assistance School, guiding staff to deliver individualised learning and restorative relationships for Years 7–12. You will promote a caring, inclusive school culture within a not-for-profit Christian organisation and contribute to pathways to hope, engagement and future success.

You will lead wellbeing, case-management, and operational duties, deputise for the Principal when required, and collaborate with teachers,

Qualifications

  • Qualified and hold a current QLD Teachers Registration.
  • Significant demonstrated experience in providing education and support to marginalised young people.
  • Knowledge or training in trauma-informed practice, restorative practices or behaviour supports.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading and supervising staff to ensure quality service, team spirit, and effective time management of resources within a secondary school environment.
  • Strong organisational skills, time management and record keeping.
  • Possession of a valid Driver’s Licence.
  • Hold a current Blue Card Exemption.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the school’s wellbeing and case-management frameworks to support positive student outcomes.
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with students and coordinate individual support strategies to address barriers to learning and engagement.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, youth workers, and external services to provide holistic support and improve student attendance, wellbeing, and achievement.
  • Support and lead school staff through mentoring, team meetings, professional development and a student-centred approach to service delivery.
  • Assist the Principal with school operations, compliance, and strategic priorities, including deputising when required and overseeing key administrative processes and student records.

About Our Role

Gladstone is a special assistance (alternative) school operated by Carinity, serving students from Years 7 to 12 who have found mainstream schooling challenging or unsuitable.

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated professional to join our team, someone who will contribute to our mission of offering individualised learning, restorative relationships, and pathways to hope, engagement and future success. In this role, you will provide high‑level assistance to the Principal, predominantly through the leadership of the school staff teams, organising, leading, and maintaining the quality of the schools’ individual casework.

Your Day‑to‑day Responsibilities
  • Lead the school’s wellbeing and case‑management frameworks to support positive student outcomes.
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with students and coordinate individual support strategies to address barriers to learning and engagement.
