Candidates selected for hire will be required to submit proof of education prior to a firm job offer being made. Therefore, to avoid delays in the hiring process, it is strongly recommended that you attach a copy of your official graduation certificate(s) from higher level institution(s) at the time of your application submission.
Six years of increasingly responsible experience as a fire code official in a governmental environment. One year of administrative and supervisory responsibility is preferred.
Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade, supplemented by specialized training in code enforcement, construction technology, or a related field. Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in fire science, public administration, business administration is preferred.
Possession of an appropriate valid driver’s license and ability to maintain insurability; NIMS 100, 200, 700, 800, 300, and NC Fire Code Standard Level III.
Ability to obtain NIMS 400 certification.
From the time of closing, the selection process is anticipated to last approximately 4 - 6 weeks. The process will consist of a panel interview with the selected candidate being subject to a pre-employment drug screen, background check and driving history check.
