Job summary

City of Panama City Beach seeks a Fire Chief to direct and manage the Fire Department, including inspection/prevention, beach safety, and training divisions. The role supports the Fire Chief in strategic planning, policy development, and budget oversight to advance department goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Fire Administration, Fire Science, Public Administration or related field from an approved accredited college or university.
• Eight years of progressively responsible experience in a fire department, including four years of fire service supervisory/managerial/command level experience.
• Possession of or the ability to obtain required Florida certifications (Driver's license, Firefighter II, Fire Officer I/II, EMT, CPR/First Aid, NIMS ICS 100-800).
• Equivalent combinations of education, training and experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Directs, manages, and provides administrative and managerial support to Fire Department activities (Inspection/Prevention, Beach Safety, Training).
• Oversees department operations, budgeting, hiring, and disciplinary actions; plans and coordinates staffing and training.
• Responds to emergencies and represents the department in external relations and interagency collaboration.
• Manages department budget, grants, procurement, and ISO-related planning and analysis.
• Serves on Incident Management Team during major events and ensures compliance with NFPA/OSHA standards.
