The Pennsylvania State University is recruiting a Deputy Division Head for the Applied Sustainment Division (AST) within the ARL. This on-site position leads engineers and scientists in business development, proposal development, and strategic planning to identify new sponsors and opportunities.
You will mentor staff, supervise labor planning, and help analyze division funding to enable data-driven decisions, while supporting recruitment and performance reviews. Location: State College, PA.
We are searching for a Deputy Division Head to join our Applied Sustainment Division (AST) Division of the Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) at Penn State. The AST Division is an interdisciplinary group of engineers, software developers, functional business process experts, and IT professionals who collaborate to develop technologies for logistics, maintenance, and lifecycle asset sustainment for DoD systems. We conduct applied R&D efforts focused on acquiring data, turning data into information and knowledge, and securely delivering that data, information and knowledge to the right warfighter at the right time to support logistics and maintenance. Our research spans the spectrum from the warfighter edge to the heart of the enterprise. This position may be filled as either a Research and Development Engineer or a non-tenure Research Faculty. ARL is an authorized DoD SkillBridge partner and welcomes all transitioning military members to apply.
You will:
Minimally requires a Master's degree in an engineering or science discipline and 1 year related experience. A Doctorate degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering is preferred.
Required skills/experience areas include: Demonstrated success leading a team of engineers/scientists, and collaborating with large teams on multi-organization, multi-disciplinary projects. Demonstrated success developing new business, including proposal writing and technical presentation skills.
Preferred skills/experience areas include: Current eligibility for access to classified information at the Secret level or higher and may be subject to a government background investigation to upgrade clearance eligibility, if required. Previous management and technical leadership in the development, engineering, and sustainment technologies.
Your working location will be in State College, PA.
