The State of Maryland seeks a Deputy Director of the Special Projects Unit to guide the Benefits Administrative Division in policy development, program implementation, and fiduciary oversight for the Maryland State Retirement and Pension System.

Located in Baltimore’s Central Business District with telework eligibility after training, this management position offers a mission-driven workplace, competitive benefits, and opportunities to lead complex programs within a trusted government framework.

Formación

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
• Five+ years of professional work experience, including three+ years leading or supervising staff.
• Additional experience may substitute for the degree requirement.

Responsabilidades

• Oversee a gency special projects/programs requiring goals, standards, controls, and staff management.
• Oversee disability claim process and intake/processing procedures.
• Act as liaison between disability unit and legal department for timely, compliant processing.
• Coordinate staff training on technical expertise, enacted programs, legislative changes, and procedures.
• Participate in establishing and revising administrative policies for the Administrative Division.
• Develop and modify spreadsheets to audit and calculate payment amounts for plan administration.
• Coordinate handling of complex/sensitive cases brought to retirement administrators and stakeholders.
• Provide direction to staff on sensitive/confidential issues and problem resolution.
• Formulate procedures for handling complex/sensitive cases.
