Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree optional.
• Minimum of 5 years of management experience, preferably in governmental operations and/or commercial insurance.
• Knowledge of self-insurance, claims processing, and litigation.
• Experience researching, interpreting, applying laws and regulations; auditing when needed.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the Maryland State Insurance Program and the State Insurance Trust Fund.
• Provide leadership for underwriting, loss prevention, claims, tort litigation, and workers’ compensation contract management.
• Develop policy, support statutory changes, and draft regulations; present testimony before the General Assembly.
