Job summary

ACEEE seeks a Deputy Director of the Building Construction Collaborative to provide strategic direction and program management for a major national initiative on energy-efficient building construction.

You will work with states, local governments, industry, and national partners to advance practical solutions, oversee staff and partners, and ensure impactful research and publications guiding policy and practice.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with 10+ years of relevant professional experience, or Master’s with 8+ years.
• Experience leading multi-stakeholder initiatives and large convenings.
• Professional experience in residential/commercial buildings or building energy policy.
• Experience leading research, analyses, and publication development.
• Experience securing funding and managing grants.
• Experience supervising staff and delegating workloads.

Responsibilities

• Helps lead the Building Construction Collaborative’s strategic direction, planning, and implementation, identifying policy needs and research priorities.
• Manages day-to-day Collaborative operations and coordinates activities across staff, partners, contractors, and participants.
• Oversees complex projects, work plans, budgets, and deliverables, ensuring timely, on-budget outcomes.
• Leads research, analyses, publications, and resources on building design, energy codes, and policy.
• Translates findings into practical recommendations for policymakers, practitioners, and the public.
• Plans convenings, workshops, and stakeholder engagement with state/local governments, utilities, and industry.
• Develops partnerships and funding opportunities, and represents ACEEE publicly.
• Supervises staff, sets priorities, mentors, and assists with hiring.
