Job summary

California Foundation for Independent Living Centers in Sacramento-based hybrid office seeks a Deputy Director to provide organization-wide leadership for operations and programs. You will oversee CFILC programs and managers, ensuring contractual, grant, and reporting obligations are met and data-driven systems improve accountability.

Qualifications

• Five years of progressively responsible nonprofit or public-sector program administration experience.
• Experience managing government contracts, grants, or restricted funding with deliverables and reporting.
• Experience developing operational systems, internal controls, and workflows.
• Strong data literacy and ability to improve collection, reporting and analysis.
• Ability to translate contracts and budget guidance into practical staff actions.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with funders, staff, and partners.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day oversight of CFILC-operated programs and supervise staff.
• Translate contracts and funder guidance into workplans, budgets, and milestones.
• Develop and monitor compliance with contractual and grant obligations.
• Lead procurement processes and prepare RFPs when needed.
• Maintain calendars and ensure timely, accurate reporting and documentation.
• Identify risk and provide corrective action recommendations to the Executive Director.
• Coordinate responses to audits, monitoring, and program reviews.
