Job summary

Hopewell is seeking a knowledgeable recreation programs administrator to plan, implement, and evaluate diverse youth, adult, and senior activities. The role includes supervising staff, coordinating events, and managing budgets within the City’s Parks and Recreation Department.

You will oversee operations, marketing materials, and record-keeping, ensuring programs meet community needs and operate smoothly under limited supervision.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in recreation management or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience in planning, implementing, and evaluating athletic programs including budgeting and scheduling.

Responsibilities

• Recruits, hires, trains, directs, supervises, evaluates, coaches, and disciplines division staff, volunteers, and contractors.
• Develops, coordinates, implements, and evaluates recreation programs of assigned division (Community, Athletics, Senior).
• Oversees daily operations: purchases, invoice payments, equipment maintenance and repairs.
• Develops and produces flyers and other marketing materials to publicize programs and events.
• Inputs and maintains programs in the department database and keeps records and payroll data.
• Prepares and controls budget; researches grants and external resources; participates in fundraising.
• Acts as liaison between the City and the community.
