Job summary

SIU Medicine in Springfield, IL seeks a Deputy Director of Procurement Services to lead procurement operations across SIU SOM, SIU Physicians & Surgeons, and the SIU School of Medicine Foundation. You will oversee compliance, strategic sourcing, P-Card program, supplier engagement, and systems, reporting to the Director of Procurement Services.

Qualifications

• Eight (8) years of progressively responsible experience in procurement management and related activities.
• Experience supervising procurement staff and managing procurement operations.
• Knowledge of federal/state laws, university policies, and grant requirements.
• Proven ability to lead strategic sourcing initiatives and supplier engagement.

Responsibilities

• Lead procurement operations for SIU SOM, SIU P&S, and the SIU School of Medicine Foundation.
• Supervise procurement staff and support professional development.
• Ensure compliance with applicable laws, policies, and internal controls.
• Direct competitive sourcing processes (IFBs, RFPs, RFIs) and ensure ethical practices.
• Develop and improve procurement policies, procedures, and reporting.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to optimize purchasing processes and customer service.
