This isn't your typical HR leadership position! We're seeking a strategic partner, trusted advisor, and innovative problem-solver who can think big, lead with purpose, and turn great ideas into meaningful results. As a key member of our Executive Leadership Team, you'll have a seat at the table where decisions are made and a voice in shaping the District's future.

Job Description

Lead with Vision. Inspire Your Team. Make Things Happen.

  • Drive HR Strategy: Lead the development and implementation of innovative HR programs, policies, and initiatives that support ACHD's mission and organizational goals.
  • Be a Strategic Partner: Collaborate with leadership to influence decisions, solve complex workforce challenges, and strengthen organizational effectiveness.
  • Champion Our People: Oversee recruitment, compensation, benefits, workers' compensation, and employee relations while fostering a positive, engaged, and high-performing workforce.
  • Build a Strong HR Team: Lead, mentor, and empower a talented group of HR professionals while promoting collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Shape Our Culture: Help create an environment where employees feel valued, supported, and motivated to do their best work.
  • Navigate the Complex Stuff: Provide sound HR guidance, ensure compliance with employment laws and District policies, and bring practical solutions to challenging situations.
Requirements

We're looking for a leader who brings more than HR expertise. We want someone who builds relationships, earns trust, embraces change, and knows how to balance big-picture strategy with getting things done.

Our Ideal Candidate Has:

  • Considerable experience developing and leading comprehensive HR programs, including compensation, benefits, employee relations, and workforce planning, in an organization of comparable size and complexity.
  • Strong knowledge of HR best practices, employment laws, and public administration principles.
  • A bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Public Administration, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Progressive leadership experience with the ability to coach, develop, and inspire teams.
  • Exceptional communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
  • A passion for employee development, organizational culture, and continuous improvement.

Even Better If You Have:

  • Professional HR certification, such as SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR.
  • Experience leading HR initiatives in the public sector.

An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may also be considered.
