Job summary
The City of Hampton is seeking a forward-thinking Deputy Director in the Community Development Department to guide long-range planning and master plan development. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in drafting and administering planning regulations and in translating policy direction into actionable development strategies.
Experience in architecture, urban design, or related fields is preferred, with strong cross-disciplinary leadership and a commitment to customer service,
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Planning, Building Construction Technology, Public Administration, or related field.
- Minimum five years of local, state, or federal government experience in planning/relevant field.
- Minimum three years in progressively responsible managerial, supervisory, or senior leadership roles.
- Proven track record in setting and achieving strategic goals with strong customer service and collaboration.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement long- and short-range plans for community growth.
- Draft and administer planning ordinances and regulations.
- Lead cross-disciplinary teams to deliver sustainable development strategies.
- Present plans and policies to stakeholders and city leadership.
