The New York City Housing Development Corporation (HDC) is seeking a Deputy Director of Internal Audit to co-develop and execute the risk-based audit plan and oversee audits across financial, operational, IT, and compliance areas.

Reporting to the Chief Risk Officer, you will lead Internal Audit staff, coordinate external audit resources, and drive governance, risk management, and control enhancements using QAIP and analytics.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, information systems, or related field.
• 7–10+ years of progressively responsible internal audit experience.
• Experience leading audits and presenting to senior stakeholders.
• Knowledge of internal control frameworks and IIA/IPPF; familiarity with Government Auditing Standards.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; ability to present to senior leadership and Audit Committee.
• Strong data analysis skills used in continuous monitoring and audit context.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and audit management tools (OpsAudit a plus).

Responsabilités

• Lead or co-lead the annual risk assessment; develop and maintain a dynamic, risk-based internal audit plan.
• Plan, execute, and review audits covering financial, operational, compliance, IT/cyber, and specialized areas.
• Present audit results and updates to management and the Audit Committee; prepare clear audit reports with remediation follow-up.
• Maintain QAIP and coordinate external QA assessments (QAR) as required.
• Oversee timely remediation tracking; perform follow-up reviews to validate corrective actions.
• Expand data analytics and continuous monitoring to improve audit coverage.
• Supervise and develop junior auditors; manage vendors/outsourcers when engaged.
• Ensure audits consider internal policies and applicable standards; partner with departments on control improvements.
• Lead or participate in advisory projects to enhance processes and data integrity.
