The Department of Housing Preservation and Development (HPD) seeks an Executive Agency Counsel to oversee audits, compliance, and risk management across City-funded programs. The role reports to the Chief Compliance Officer and collaborates with Legal to ensure adherence to federal, state, and city rules.

Remote work up to two days per week is eligible. Candidates must be admitted to the New York State Bar with four years of relevant legal experience and supervisory exposure.

Qualifications

• Admittance to the New York State Bar and four years of recent, relevant legal experience, including supervisory experience.
• Remote work option: eligible for partial remote work up to two days per week.
• Executive Agency Counsel eligibility.

Responsabilités

• Manage audits and compliance reviews conducted by City, State, or Federal entities that fund and govern program activity.
• Strengthen risk mitigation by reviewing agency policies and procedures to ensure program obligations are met.
• Lead the Audit Support unit, including supervising staff and coordinating audit responses.
• Draft briefing materials with analysis and recommendations for leadership decisions.
• Corrective action plans or similar to remedy issues identified as part of internal risk assessments or external audits.
