Deputy Director II
State of Connecticut Judicial Branch

Hartford

The State of Connecticut Judicial Branch’s External Affairs Division is seeking a Deputy Director to manage and coordinate the Judicial Branch’s media relations, including but not limited to media inquiries, assisting all five Branch divisions with coordinating media responses, assisting with events, including high-profile trials as needed, and supervising the processing of camera requests from the media. The deputy director will also manage both internal and external publications of the Branch, work with the Executive Director in developing a social media campaign designed to enhance public trust and confidence in the judiciary and as requested prepare speeches and/or assist in the development and use of visual aids. The deputy director will supervise employees within the division, and at least five years of supervision is highly preferred. Please note that remote work is not contemplated for this position.

Salary Range: $131,308 - $171,959/year – plus State of Connecticut benefits. New employees begin at the minimum. The starting salary for existing state employees may be higher than the minimum, in accordance with existing Judicial Branch policy.

EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING

General Experience: Ten years of professional experience exercising administrative or supervisory responsibilities.

Substitutions Allowed: 1) College training may be substituted for the General Experience on the basis of fifteen semester hours equaling one-half year of experience to a maximum of four years for a Bachelor’s degree. 2) A law degree or a master's degree in a related field may be substituted for one additional year of the General
Experience.

Special Requirements: Incumbents may be required to travel in the course of their daily work.
