Job summary

The City of Scottsdale seeks an experienced Deputy Director – Human Services to provide strategic leadership for the Human Services Division, guiding planning, development and evaluation of a wide range of programs to improve residents’ well-being and quality of life.

The role oversees senior services, community centers, youth and family services, behavioral health and diversion programs, homeless navigation, food assistance, and employment services within the Parks, Recreation & Human Services

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Recreation Management, Public Administration, or related field.
• Six years' supervisory, managerial and administrative experience in municipal recreation, parks maintenance, and/or human services.
• Equivalent combination of education and/or job-related experience may be substituted.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership and direction for the Human Services Division.
• Oversee planning, development, implementation and evaluation of comprehensive human services programs, services, and facilities.
• Lead a broad portfolio including senior services, neighborhood and community centers, youth and family services, behavioral health and diversion programs, homeless navigation and support services, food assistance, employment and career services, family resource programs, volunteer initiatives, and other programs that respond to evolving community needs.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Recreation Management, Public Administration, or related field

Six years' supervisory, managerial and administrative experience in municipal recreation, parks maintenance, and/or human services

Equivalent combination of education and/or job-related experience
