Job summary

New York City Department of Housing Preservation and Development (HPD) seeks an Assistant Commissioner for the Division of Neighborhood Development and Stabilization to lead a team of directors and managers in advancing preservation strategies and tenant/owner outreach across NYC neighborhoods.

You will coordinate studies, collaborate with city agencies, and guide policy and planning efforts to ensure equitable, sustainable neighborhood development while enhancing community engagement and

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and four years of experience in community organization, urban development projects, real estate, public administration, or related field; two years in neighborhood improvement.
• Education and/or experience equivalent to the above may be substituted as allowed by law.
• Strong communication and collaboration with diverse stakeholders is essential.
• Experience with tenant organizers, community-based organizations, and advocacy groups is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversee development and implementation of strategies to preserve affordable housing and protect tenants from displacement.
• Coordinate affordable housing studies with internal and external partners.
• Coach staff and drive innovations to improve operations.
• Represent HPD in high-profile planning and interagency policy initiatives.
