Job summary

The Office of Chief Medical Examiner seeks a Deputy Director of Medicolegal to lead forensic photography, radiography, PMCT, and autopsy support operations in New York City. You will implement imaging protocols, ensure quality assurance, and supervise staff across units dedicated to medicolegal investigations.

Qualifications

• New York State license as a Physician Assistant with current Registration, plus two years as a Physician Assistant and two years as a Medicolegal Investigator; or NYS Nurse Practitioner Registration with two years as NP and two as Medicolegal Investigator; or five years as Medicolegal Investigator.
• Strong organizational and communication abilities; familiarity with medical-legal workflow and documentation.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and related office productivity tools.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations of medicolegal services and ensure timely, accurate documentation for investigations.
• Supervise staff, schedule workloads, and manage performance and professional development.
• Coordinate with pathology, investigations, records, and agency units to support case processing.
• Develop and maintain SOPs and quality standards for medicolegal functions.
• Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, accreditation, health, and safety requirements.
• Monitor operational performance and drive improvements in case throughput and quality.
