Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Fire Science, Administration or Public Safety; 15+ years in command, including 5 years as chief officer.
• CPSE Chief Officer designation and Master's degree preferred.
• EMT-B and EVOC required; Virginia driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Oversees administrative and budget tasks for Fire, Rescue and Emergency Management.
• Directs emergency response operations including firefighting, rescue, EMS, and hazmat.
• Develops policies, procedures, and regulations for the department.
• Liaises with Board of Supervisors and public agencies.
• Plans training, fire prevention programs, and emergency management activities.
• Ensures departmental record keeping and incident reporting.
• Represents department publicly and manages program goals and resources.
