Job summary

Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) is seeking a Deputy Director of Federal Funds in Austin to coordinate federal funding activities, ensure compliance, and lead budget planning. The role supports the Federal Funds Office, supervises budget teams, and drives agency-wide financial strategies while offering telework options and a two-day-in-office requirement.

The position requires five years of federal funds or budget experience, a four-year degree, and strong communication skills

Qualifications

• A minimum of a four-year degree from an accredited college or university.
• Five years’ experience performing advanced budget, financial, accounting, or federal funds work.
• Three years’ experience leading, supervising, or directing the work of others.
• Experience analyzing complex financial data and preparing financial or budget reports preferred.
• Experience communicating complex financial, budgetary, or policy information to internal or external stakeholders preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide senior-level leadership in budget planning and the development of goals and objectives.
• Oversee the daily operations and activities of the Budget teams and manage operating budgets.
• Oversee development, coordination and submission of agency budget processes and fiscal notes.
• Manage staff through training, performance appraisals, and leave approvals.
