The Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management seeks a Deputy Administrator, Environmental Protection to lead statewide regulatory programs overseeing air, water and land resources. This role supports the Administrator for Groundwater and Freshwater Wetlands within the Office of Water Resources, handling permits, budgets and performance metrics.

Ideal candidates will hold a bachelor’s degree in a related field and have at least five years of supervisory experience with strong knowledge

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a recognized field (Environmental Science, Engineering, Chemistry, Biology, Law) and at least five years in a supervisory role addressing environmental protection.
• Ability to plan and administer statewide regulatory programs and oversee permits and licensing actions.
• Experience testifying in legal or legislative proceedings and coordinating with federal/state stakeholders.

Responsabilités

• Assist Administrator in planning and administering statewide environmental regulatory programs.
• Monitor and improve efficiency and effectiveness of DEM operations.
• Prepare budgets, manage grants, contracts, and agreements; coordinate with federal/state partners.
