Job summary

Henry County Government is seeking a Deputy Director to serve as second in command of the Development Services Department in Georgia. The role oversees Planning and Zoning and Building and Plan Review, directing daily operations including development review, permitting, inspections, and environmental compliance.

The Deputy Director will supervise staff, manage budgets, and implement policies, while representing the department in meetings and before boards and the public.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Urban/Regional Planning, Public Administration, Civil Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or related field.
• Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in local government development services, planning and zoning, permitting, plan review, inspections, or related operations, including supervisory/management experience.
• Master’s degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Directs two divisions and supervises staff and operations.
• Represents the department in meetings and before boards.
• Develops policies, budgets, and service delivery strategies.
• Oversees permits intake, plan review, inspections, and environmental compliance.
• Coordinates development review with other county offices.
