Job summary

Gwinnett County Government is seeking a proven leader to serve as Building Division Director in the Department of Planning and Development. This role provides strategic and technical direction to the Building Division, overseeing plan reviews, inspections, and code compliance while driving an inclusive, innovative culture aligned with the County's priorities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management or related field.
• Nine years of progressively responsible experience in architecture, construction project management, plan review, or inspections, including three years in supervision.
• Or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Five years of supervisory experience.
• Experience leading a building construction project from inception to completion.

Responsibilities

• Manages the daily operations and activities of the Building Division, reviewing plans and conducting inspections to ensure compliance with codes.
• Interprets code and monitors amendments to reflect industry trends and address issues.
• Coordinates across divisions and departments on resident concerns, building, development, and special projects.
• Attends meetings and presents to internal and external stakeholders.
• Manages data collection, reports, and audits for quality control.
• Coordinates tracking and resolution of complaint investigations from public and other stakeholders.
• Leads special projects such as technology enhancements and SOPs/trainings.
• Monitors division performance metrics and customer service outcomes.
• Oversees budget development and administration for the Division.
