Job summary

City of Las Vegas is seeking a Deputy Community Development Director to assist the Director in planning, directing, and supervising the Community Development Department and its divisions. This position oversees Building & Safety operations and serves as the city’s Certified Building Official, ensuring regulatory decisions support development and the community.

Qualifications

• Five years of increasingly responsible experience in the area of assignment, including two years of administrative and managerial responsibility.
• Bachelor's degree as specified; combination of education and related work experience may substitute for the degree.
• Possession of required certifications depending on assignment (CBO or AICP) within 12 months of appointment.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day‑to‑day operations of the department, including building code inspections, plans examination, building permits and related functions.
• Plan, direct and coordinate department work plans; assign projects and monitor performance.
• Manage budget development and administrative functions; justify and defend department programs and activities.
