The Building Director serves as the executive and administrative leader of the City's Building Department and is responsible for the strategic direction, operational management, customer experience, fiscal administration, technology, performance management, and organizational effectiveness of the Department.
The Director provides leadership over the City's building permitting operations and is responsible for establishing efficient, transparent, accountable, and customer-focused processes that support responsible development and ensure timely delivery of municipal services.
The Building Director works in close partnership with the Building Official, who maintains the statutory and technical responsibilities assigned to that position under applicable Florida law and the Florida Building Code. The Director ensures that appropriate administrative resources, staffing, technology, procedures, and organizational systems are in place to support the Building Official and the Department's regulatory responsibilities.
The position serves as a key member of the City's executive leadership team and works collaboratively with Planning & Zoning, Public Works, Energy, Economic Development, Finance & Budget, Innovation & Technology, and other departments involved in the development process.
