Job summary

The City of New York seeks an outstanding Psychologist to join its team as Deputy Director of the Behavioral Care and Support Section (BCSS). The role primarily involves managing and coordinating fitness-for-duty evaluations for NYPD officers and civilian personnel.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, interpersonal skills, and the ability to work with multi-disciplinary teams within a large law-enforcement organization.

Qualifications

• Doctorate degree in psychology from an accredited college.
• Five years of full-time professional psychological experience with administrative capacity.
• New York State psychology license required, or medical license with psychiatry board certification and relevant experience.

Responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate fitness-for-duty evaluations for NYPD officers.
• Coordinate psychiatric/psychological evaluations for civilian and uniformed members.
• Supervise psychologists, social workers, mental health counselors, and externs.
• Provide training and supervision for fitness-for-duty assessments and testing.
• Conduct candidate evaluations, engage in research, attend division conferences.
• Provide clinical supervision to the Counseling Services Unit.
• Support Legal Bureau on Civil Service appeals and provide expert testimony.
• Report to the BCSS Executive Director and division leadership.
