The role involves advising the Board of Supervisors and the County Executive, directing policy implementation, and managing executive decisions across departments.

The position requires a strong background in public administration, budget oversight, and multi-agency leadership, with a track record of integrity under pressure and effective collaboration

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in public administration, business administration, or related field.
• Eight years of progressively responsible managerial experience in local/state/federal government or nonprofit/private sectors.
• At least five years at senior or department director level.

Responsibilities

• Advises the Board of Supervisors and County Executive on strategic initiatives and operational matters.
• Implements policies established by the Board across departments.
• Provides executive oversight of operations and administration of assigned departments.
• Reports to the County Executive on performance and emerging issues.
• Leads budget development and oversight, evaluating fiscal impacts.
• Directs recruitment and selection of department heads; fosters leadership development.
• Champions Fairfax County Strategic Plan and One Fairfax initiative.
• Represents the County before boards, partners, and the public on policies.
