Job summary

Dallas County is seeking a Deputy Constable Recruit to perform licensed peace officer duties under state and local laws and to serve as bailiff for the Justice of the Peace. The role requires passing a written entry exam, physical agility test, psychological exam, polygraph, and a full background investigation, plus a valid Texas driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing, and establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, departments and the general public.
• Minimum education: GED or high school diploma; combination of TCOLE certification, education and/or work experience.

Responsibilities

• Deliver and execute civil papers including citations, notices, subpoenas, summons and restraining orders.
• Deliver and execute writs (garnishment, attachment, execution, etc.) and warrants for bad checks.
• Perform arrests and transports; act as Bailiff for the Justice of the Peace as needed.
• Work varied days and shifts, including weekends and holidays; comply with policies.
