Job Title: Deputy Clerk I
The Deputy Clerk I performs specialized clerical, administrative, and secretarial work in an assigned department.
Responsibilities:
- Answer telephones, greet visitors, provide information, refer inquiries, route calls, and record messages.
- Respond to emails and faxes as necessary.
- Utilize computerized data entry and word processing programs for data entry, storage, and retrieval; maintain files and records; scan and copy documents.
- Process incoming and outgoing mail, prepare photocopies, collate materials, and distribute mail.
- Balance the cash drawer daily and prepare related reports weekly.
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
- Oversee vehicle registration and titles, process renewals, and create daily reports.
- Collect and accurately post property taxes.
- Assist with distribution of disability placards, license plates, and specialty plates.
- Handle public inquiries, process renewals, titles, and accept payments including taxes, vehicle inventory taxes, and renewals.
- Calculate and adjust accounts for court orders.
- Process dealer work related to car titling.
- Manage clerical duties for tax collection, inventory maintenance, temporary tags, and handicap placards.
- Perform other related duties as required.
Minimum Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED and at least one year of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Completion of some college coursework is preferred.
- Specific certifications related to the assignment area may be required.
