Job Title: Deputy Clerk I

The Deputy Clerk I performs specialized clerical, administrative, and secretarial work in an assigned department.

Responsibilities:
  1. Answer telephones, greet visitors, provide information, refer inquiries, route calls, and record messages.
  2. Respond to emails and faxes as necessary.
  3. Utilize computerized data entry and word processing programs for data entry, storage, and retrieval; maintain files and records; scan and copy documents.
  4. Process incoming and outgoing mail, prepare photocopies, collate materials, and distribute mail.
  5. Balance the cash drawer daily and prepare related reports weekly.
  6. Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
  7. Oversee vehicle registration and titles, process renewals, and create daily reports.
  8. Collect and accurately post property taxes.
  9. Assist with distribution of disability placards, license plates, and specialty plates.
  10. Handle public inquiries, process renewals, titles, and accept payments including taxes, vehicle inventory taxes, and renewals.
  11. Calculate and adjust accounts for court orders.
  12. Process dealer work related to car titling.
  13. Manage clerical duties for tax collection, inventory maintenance, temporary tags, and handicap placards.
  14. Perform other related duties as required.
Minimum Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or GED and at least one year of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Completion of some college coursework is preferred.
  • Specific certifications related to the assignment area may be required.
