Job summary

Coconino County seeks an experienced Deputy CIO to guide the IT department's technology vision and strategy. You will lead AI initiatives, cloud and data center operations, vendor partnerships, and staff development to deliver reliable services for 1,900+ employees across 35 departments.

You will work with the CIO and other deputies to advance digital transformation, set budgets, and present technology updates to leadership and the Board.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a closely related field and four years of progressively responsible experience in enterprise information technology.
• Master’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration (MBA), Public Administration (MPA), or closely related field preferred; senior leadership experience advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Partner with the CIO to develop, administer, and oversee IT budgets and technology lifecycle planning.
• Advance AI, automation, and digital transformation initiatives to improve decision-making and customer experience.
• Oversee cloud services, datacenter operations, telecommunications, and infrastructure modernization.
• Ensure highly available, recoverable technology services for county operations.
• Direct procurement strategies, contracts, vendor partnerships, and grant opportunities.
• Collaborate with county leadership, departments, and vendors to set strategic priorities.
• Communicate technology strategies to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Recruit, mentor, and develop high-performing leaders and teams.
