Job summary

Coconino County is seeking an experienced Deputy Chief Information Officer to lead the Information Technology Department. Reporting to the CIO, the Deputy CIO will help shape technology vision, strategy, and the executive team.

This in-office role will oversee AI initiatives, digital transformation, cloud services, datacenter operations, disaster recovery, and infrastructure modernization for 1,900+ employees across 35 departments.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in IT, CS, MBA, MPA, or closely related field.
• 3+ years in senior leadership or executive management overseeing multiple technology disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Partner with CIO to manage IT operating and capital budgets and lifecycle planning.
• Advance AI, automation, and digital transformation with county departments.
• Oversee cloud services, datacenter operations, telecom, and infrastructure modernization.
• Ensure critical tech services are recoverable and highly available.
• Lead procurement, vendor negotiations, and grant funding opportunities.
• Communicate strategies to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Recruit, mentor, and develop high-performing leaders and teams.
