Job summary

Lockheed Martin in Sunnyvale, CA is seeking a Deputy Chief Systems Engineer to lead the systems engineering team through design, integration, and verification across multiple disciplines.

You will coordinate technical checkpoints, ensure traceability, and manage interfaces among mechanical, electrical, and HW/SW teams, while mentoring junior engineers and upholding SE processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline (MS preferred).
• 5 to 10 years of experience in Systems Engineering on Development Programs.
• Experience with Requirements and Verification.
• Experience with Requirements Management Tools such as DOORS and Jama.
• Experience as a technical leader coordinating across diverse technical teams.
• Experience in coordination of program technical reviews.
• Active and Current Secret clearance is required. Thus U.S. citizenship is required.

Deputy Chief Systems Engineer

Support the Chief Systems Engineer in the leadership of the systems‑engineering team in day‑to‑day design, integration, and verification activities.

Coordinate technical engineering checkpoints (e.g., System Architecture, Systems Requirements, Preliminary Design, Critical Design Review, Test Readiness) to validate engineering progress, capture decisions, and update the technical baseline.

Handles detailed requirement decomposition, traceability, and verification for the demo.

Technical interfaces lead ensuring mechanical, electrical, and HW/SW interfaces are properly defined and managed; oversight of mechanical, electrical, and HW/SW integrators.

Support schedule and status reporting for Systems Engineering Activities.

Ensure compliance with systems engineering processes.

Mentor junior engineers.

The information below includes the standard job description for this position. Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems. Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal. Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline (MS preferred).
• 5 to 10 years of experience in Systems Engineering on Development Programs
• Experience with Requirements and Verification
• Experience with Requirements Management Tools such as DOORS and Jama
• Experience as a technical leader coordinating across diverse technical teams
• Experience in coordination of program technical reviews

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $129000.00 - $239600.00
