Job summary

Baltimore City Government seeks a GVRS Deputy Chief to provide strategic leadership for the Mayor’s Office of Neighborhood Safety and Engagement’s focused deterrence violence reduction initiative. This role ensures contract compliance, program fidelity, and high-quality service delivery for high-risk individuals.

The position oversees life coaching, wraparound supports, data reporting, and fiscal management while fostering strong community partnerships and city-wide collaboration.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Social Work, Public Administration, Criminal Justice, Psychology, or related field (Bachelor’s degree with significant leadership experience may be considered).
• 5+ years of experience in violence prevention, reentry, or justice-involved programming.
• 3+ years of supervisory or program management experience.
• Experience managing government-funded contracts preferred.
• Maryland Class C Noncommercial driver's license or equivalent; must be eligible for Baltimore City driver’s permit.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for MONSE violence reduction initiatives and oversee program operations.
• Ensure contract compliance and data accuracy in city-approved reporting systems.
• Supervise Intervention Specialists and program staff, ensuring fidelity to the intervention model.
• Coordinate with probation, schools, workforce providers, and behavioral health agencies to strengthen community partnerships.
• Maintain safety planning and crisis management oversight for high-risk participants.
