Job summary

El Camino Health is seeking a Deputy Chief Compliance Officer and Vice President to lead the enterprise-wide Compliance Program, aligning policies with federal and state laws. The role partners with the CCO to direct risk assessments, investigations, and training across hospitals and the physician network.

Key responsibilities include driving corrective actions, reporting to the Board, and ensuring ongoing compliance education.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, business, legal studies, or a related field required; Juris Doctor (JD) or other graduate degree preferred.
• Minimum of seven (7) years of progressive healthcare compliance experience, including experience within a hospital and/or physician network setting, with at least three (3) years in a leadership role overseeing compliance operations.
• Strong working knowledge of healthcare laws and regulations, including the federal Anti-Kickback Statute, Stark Law, False Claims Act, HIPAA, and CMS conditions of participation.
• Demonstrated experience leading compliance risk assessments, audits, investigations, and corrective action planning across multiple business units.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization, including physicians, executives, and the Board.
• Ability to exercise sound judgment, discretion, and independence in handling sensitive and confidential matters.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Directs day-to-day operations of the Compliance Program across hospitals and the physician network.
• Leads risk assessments, auditing, monitoring, and investigations with corrective actions.
• Oversees compliance education and training for employees, medical staff, physicians, and leadership.
• Advises CCO in design and improvement of the program per federal and state laws.
• Prepares reports for Board and governance bodies and supports enterprise risk management.
• Keeps policies updated with changes in healthcare laws and guidance.
