U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking a Deputy Chief of Community Care at the G.V. (Sonny) Montgomery VA Medical Center.

The role reports to the Chief of Community Care and oversees OCC-related medical inter-facility coordination, Mission Act, and contracted services. The position emphasizes supervisory responsibilities, budget oversight, and performance coaching across leadership levels. Telework may be authorized; normal schedule is Monday–Friday with potential changes based on agency

Qualifications

• Time-In-Grade requirements for federal service, GS-12 with 52 weeks at GS-11 (or equivalent).
• Specialized experience includes supervising staff, setting priorities, and developing work schedules.
• Experience with program operations, budgeting, cost analysis, and reporting to leadership.

Responsibilities

• Exercises supervisory authorities including assignment and review of staff.
• Serves as a primary resource to Chief - Community Care for OCC-related projects.
• Identifies service access concerns and develops plans to resolve them.
• Oversees development of automated managerial reports and data reporting techniques.
• Collaborates with Managerial Cost Accounting for labor and supply mapping data.
• Ensures accuracy and quality of financial, costing, and managerial reports for leadership.
