Job summary

The New York State Office of the Attorney General seeks a Deputy Bureau Chief for the Law Enforcement Misconduct Investigative Office in New York City. The DBC will aid the Bureau Chief in managing the bureau’s legal practice and day-to-day operations, overseeing a large team of attorneys and staff across multiple offices.

Qualifications

• At least nine (9) years of complex civil litigation or criminal law experience, preferably including civil rights or law enforcement misconduct.
• Prior experience managing/supervising teams of attorneys and staff is preferred.
• Effective interpersonal communication, conflict resolution, problem solving, and teamwork skills.
• Excellent analytic, research, writing, editing, and oral advocacy skills.
• Demonstrates strategic vision and strong organizational and interpersonal abilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise more than twenty attorneys and staff located in NYC, Albany and Buffalo.
• Develop enforcement and policy strategies for the bureau.
• Build relationships with covered agencies, community stakeholders, and experts.
