Job summary

First Bus is seeking an Operations Supervisor for our Glasgow Caledonia depot. This full-time role focuses on safe, punctual, and cost-effective service delivery by coordinating drivers and vehicles from the depot, through the route and back, within our operational framework.

The ideal candidate will manage day-to-day operational issues, drive continuous improvement, support driver queries, and maintain accurate records.

Qualifications

• Previous management or supervisory experience in bus/transport is preferred.
• Excellent computer skills and proficiency with standard software.
• Professional knowledge of the Road Traffic Act and Employment legislation.
• Ability to lead and inspire teams to follow operational best practice.
• Knowledge of employment legislation and its impact on operations.
• Excellent planning and prioritising abilities.
• Self-motivated with a positive approach to change.
• Strong customer focus and service delivery orientation.

Responsibilities

• Forward planning on-the-day service requirements through to end-of-day and future days.
• Monitor and proactively manage service punctuality and availability.
• Support driver queries and oversee driver reporting.
• Ensure accurate capture of drivers’ hours, duties and attendance.
• Maintain records for operational standards and performance.
• Analyse information to improve service performance.
• Ensure correct vehicle allocation and timely departures from the depot.
• Handle customer queries and coordinate handovers across shifts.
