Job summary

Northrim Bank is seeking a Deposit Operations Representative in Alaska. The role supports deposit operations, resolves complex account issues, maintains records, and ensures audits are ready. You will be the behind-the-scenes problem solver contributing to accurate transactions and compliant processes.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma and banking experience. A strong focus on accuracy, attention to detail, and compliance will help you thrive in this critical, non-exempt full-time

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least one year of direct banking back-office operations experience OR two years of general banking experience.
• Understanding of federal banking regulations and legal documentation.
• Moderate knowledge of ACH operating rules.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.
• Understanding of debits, credits, account balancing, and moderately complex math.
• Ability to calculate interest accruals and resolve balancing issues.
• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Commitment to compliance and escalation when needed.

Responsibilities

• Be a banking detective by researching account questions and discrepancies.

• Balance GL accounts and resolve out-of-balance conditions.
• Process mail-in deposits and payments accurately.
• Maintain and update account records daily.
• Digitize and index imaged documents for accessibility.
• Review daily exception reports in Image Centre.
• Support deposit products and ensure smooth operation.
• Assist with compliance efforts and documentation.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes and efficiency.
• Be a trusted resource for branch and department staff.

As a Deposit Operations Representative, you'll be an essential part of the engine that keeps our bank running smoothly. While our customers may not always see everything you do, our branches and departments definitely will! You'll provide critical operational support, solve complex account issues, keep records accurate, and help ensure our deposit operations are efficient, compliant, and audit-ready.

In other words: you make the banking magic happen behind the scenes.

What You'll Be Doing

Every day brings something a little different. You'll have the opportunity to:

• Be a banking detective by researching account questions, resolving discrepancies, and digging into complex issues.
• Handle important legal requests including levies, subpoenas, stop payment verifications, and other documentation.
• Make sure everything balances by working with Department and Teller GL accounts and resolving out-of-balance conditions.
• Process mail-in deposits and payments while ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
• Keep account records in tip-top shape through daily core maintenance and account updates.
• Keep documents organized and accessible by digitizing, indexing, and quality-checking imaged documents.
• Be the quality-control guru by reviewing daily exception reports in Image Centre.
• Support our deposit products and help keep them running smoothly.
• Help keep us audit-ready by supporting compliance efforts, certifications, procedures, and documentation.
• Spot opportunities to improve processes and recommend ways to make our work smarter and more efficient.
• Be a trusted resource for branch and department employees when deposit operations questions or challenges arise.

What Makes You a Great Fit?

We're looking for someone who organized, curious, analytical, and ready to roll up their sleeves when there's a problem to solve.

You’ll bring:

• A high school diploma or equivalent.
• At least one year of direct banking back-office operations experience OR two years of general banking experience.
• A solid understanding of federal banking regulations and legal documentation.
• Moderate knowledge of ACH operating rules.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.
• A strong understanding of debits, credits, account balancing, and moderately complex mathematical calculations.
• The ability to calculate interest accruals and independently resolve balancing issues.
• The ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines without losing sight of the details.
• Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• A commitment to compliance and knowing when an issue needs to be escalated.

Bonus: Related education or military experience may be considered in place of some education or work experience.
